Shangri-La Christmas 2022

We spent our Christmas at this hotel. Service was very good, all staff helpful no matter the subject. Hotel is calm and relaxing, perfect for re-creation. My son just loves the pool area for kids, which kept him busy for hours each day. But prices are little on the high end, especially since a 20 mins taxi drive away offers 50% lower prices on food and beverages.

Love the place! staff was accommodating to change our room at the last minute. Overall, a nice experience for a short stay.

구정 때는 피해야 될 장소

구정이 끼여서 그런지 시내 식당이 문 닫은 곳이 있어 열린 곳은 아주 붐볐으며 위생이 깨끗하지 않은 것 같았음 호텔 숙박은 괜찮았으나 두 룸다 sea side가 아니고 저층 배정으로 호텔 닷컴에 실망했음. 호텔내 식당은 부킹이 어려웠음, 마사지도 부킹이 어려워 낮 시간에 했음

A little lustre lost from this previous jewel

We spent eight days at the Tanjung Aru in January. This was to be a bit of a nostalgia trip for me as I had last stayed here 30 years ago. First the positives. The attentiveness and friendliness of the staff were fantastic - special mentions have to go to Adie who served us at breakfast and James the head concierge. The view across to the islands is as beautiful as I remember and the different swimming pools are large enough to accommodate a lot of people and they are well segregated, with children in mind. I was however, disappointed with the standard of upkeep and maintenance. Paint was chipping in some areas and there was a lot of dust in places which should have been cleaned. Food was good although not as varied as I remember. There is a good Chinese restaurant but no European specialties. More variety would have been nice. Overall we enjoyed our holiday but some of the lustre of years ago has gone. Staff management is great but more attention needs to be paid to the fabric.
