No smile at the front desk...
Inskickad 3 sep. 2021 på HotelsThe front desk staff did her job and checked me in efficiently but with no smile, nor personal touch. Actually, no other hotel employee that I met ever smiled at me. Something's wrong...
The facilities were of course 100% clean and up to date, but plumbing in bathtub didn't work properly, no fridge in the room and not even a desk - even if said so in the description. There was a roller table to put at the sofa, but I don't want to sit there for hours to work...
Sustainability? Why do all hotels always keep the AC on in the rooms while there's no one checked in!??! 68 degree F when nobody needs a breeze is just a waste of power! Switch it off and let the guest switch it on! Just an idea.
Location? Well, if you travel to/from EWR, you can't get any closer... Which also surprises me, talking about sustainability, why they have a heavy fossile van as a shuttle bus! It's 1½ minutes walk!!!
I am a bit surprised about a lot of things with this hotel...

Rest and fly!

Check in was fine and friendly. When I got into the room and discovered there was no luggage rack, I called the front desk and was told they didn't have luggage racks.
I was told I could put my bag on the lower side of the credensa where the coffeemaker and ice bucket were sitting, which would have required me to move those items to....where? I was also told I could always lay my luggage on the floor! Next morning, I inquired about about no luggage racks at the front desk and was told "of course we have luggage racks." Was asked, who I spoke to....aren't they supposed to know who was on call?? Also outrageous price for a package of avocado dip with 3 crackers --$7. Difficult experience in the restaurant and even the Starbuck's machine coffee was blah. As a Bonvoy member I was less than impressed--next trip back to Hilton!

No refund!
Inskickad 25 dec. 2023 på HotelsI booked trip when daughter, plane from Newark returned to gate and flight attendant predicted flight would be cancelled due to weather at destination. 20 minutes later pilot announced flight would happen and hotel would not refund.

Pleasant airport hotel
Inskickad 23 dec. 2023 på HotelsWe arrived from London at Terminal B and were departing the next morning from Terminal C so an overnight stay here seemed very logical. EWR terminals are in a basic semi circle layout with the hotel towards the centre of that circle, from a google view a very simple trip. My biggest tip - don’t try and walk it like we did!! It would be so easy to extend the walkway and put in a crossing but, this is America! So use the shuttle bus!
We were a family of 3 so picked a room with 2 double beds which were exactly as described (I mean doubles NOT queens) so if you’re used to a larger bed take that into consideration.
City view was wonderful with the bonus of looking across the airport as well.
One final interesting fact - we booked for both before and after our trip. Upon arriving in our room for the first night we realised we wanted a different room category for our return 10 days later. After checking availability we noticed a larger room was over £75 cheaper! I don’t know why, currency fluctuations can’t account for such a large change so it might be worth waiting as long as you can before booking, maybe?
