New York Marriott Downtown

The check-in was very bad. No one came out to help with our luggage to bring it in from the street late at night. Then at the check-in, we asked for a room where 4 people could sleep comfortably. Instead, we got a room with very small and uncomfortable beds. [...]

We spent a great deal of time sight seeing. Our room was not made during the time we were out. The service was poor. This was the worst customer service we've experienced in our traveling.

The Hotel staff was friendly but did not seem to care when we arrived that our room was not clean and all of the glasses in the room were dirty. No concern. The laminate floor as you walked into the room was coming up and to go from the room to the bathroom you had to step over it. Very surprising for what was supposed to be a four star hotel????

This was my second trip to New York and let me say I was very disappointed with the service from the hotel staff. We arrived a little early and were told to take a seat until our room was ready and they would call us and that did not happen. After waiting approx. 45 minutes to an hour we went back downstairs and "oh my gosh, the guy had went home for the day." My friend who traveled with us had was an "Elite Member" and I do not fee that we received any "Elite" treatment. When we tried to get on the internet on our laptop, there was a charge and then we didn't receive 24 hours of internet. We found someone else's socks in the drawers so apparently the staff doesn't check to see if anything was left behind. It was just a mess. We will stay at the Marriott near Times Square next time.

The television did not work at all and the room service was terrible. Overall staff interaction wasn't bad but it wasn't exemplary either.

We decided to take our trip on a last minute whim. We spent a total of 4 nights at this location and we found it very accessible to most of the sights we wanted to see. For those longer trips uptown we found the subway locations very convenient. We enjoyed our stay in NYC.

One block from the World Trade Center location, I had an excellent stay here before. The bad start was the formerly beautiful bar, just off the lobby and on West Street, was now 'an extension of the lobby' and just a plain room: bright, airy, beautiful decor, and EMPTY!I checked in and they gave ma a "handicapped accessible" room, which i didn't need[...]. I didn't argue because we were staying just overnight, and only really sleeping there.The room was nice, but there were these fluffy white tufts of what looked like cotton around the room on the floor. I'm not sure what they were, but they shouldn't have been there.So the aforementioned former bar in the front lobby was replaced by a kind of Sports Bar in the back of the hotel. The music was too loud (there were only about 8 people there from 6-7:30 p.m.), but our server was BEAUTIFUL, so that made up for it.The bed was VERY comfortable, and the pillows were awesome!It is a nice hotel with a great location, and i would go there again, in spite of the missteps...

Sightseeing and shopping

The Marriot in Manhattan is a very nice hotel. Very near the WTC, therefore, there is a lot of construction surrounding it. It is pretty far from Theater District but can cab there easily. Very close to Battery Park and SouthStreet Seaport so families can still walk to those places. Room was very comfortable for 2 adults and 2 children.

It doesn't seem to be a 4 start hotel, more like a 3 or even a 2 star hotel. Towels are really thin and have been clearly used for a long time. Concierge is not helpful at all.
