Mayfair New York Hotel

Always like staying at the Mayfair. Great value, helpful staff, great location to Times Quare.

I loved this hotel. Yes, my room was tiny BUT tis is New York not suburbia. The lobby was intimate and warm. The room was beautiful,clean and well appointed. The staff was personable and helpful.

The size of the room was about 11x14 INCLUDING THE BATHROOM and the elevator barely worked. The building itself was also cheap and not well kept either. I can't spend too much time writing about this place but DO NOT stay at this hotel... shame to New York.

The staff are extremely sweet and make the experience as easy and pleasant as possible. This boutique slot in the heart of the theater district is accessible to theaters, restaurants, retail stores and transportation. The rooms are small and yet never feel cramped or uncomfortable and the bathrooms are lovely. Noise is not a real factor and once people are in their rooms you generally feel the privacy that surrounds you.

I chose this hotel mainly because of the price. I came to visit friends in the city but wanted a hotel so that I could come and go as I please and so that I could have a place to crash. That's what the Mayfair is. It is not luxurious, aesthetically pleasing, or roomy, but it gets the job done. The lone elevator is remarkably small. My room was basically big enough for the bed, and that's it. It didn't feel dirty but didn't feel terribly clean either. The carpet was older. The window faced a wall, so there was no view (unless you consider a brick wall to be a view). The heat and a/c worked well and the wall-mounted flat screen TV was nice. My bed had a long black hair between the sheets and what bothered me is that I know that the throw pillows have to be placed on the floor while the bed is being made-- those same pillows are lying against the pillows you sleep on. Kinda gross. The bathroom was tiny and when I ran the water in the sink, water leaked out from the floor and made a puddle. The shower was SMALL. If you are overweight, this hotel is not for you! I am a tall and in-shape male, and I had a problem in the shower, especially when washing my legs. The water pressure and temperature were good. There was an extra movable mirror on the wall that made shaving easy. The staff was pretty friendly, although one of the younger guys at the front desk acted like he didn't know what he was doing when he checked me in. The location was excellent- right by Broadway (the hotel is directly beside the Book of Mormon theater), HK, Time's Square, etc. I would stay here again simply for the convenience and the price. It's small and has NO frills but it gets the job done. ALSO- there is a $12 gas surcharge that you have to pay upon checkout. I'm guessing it's for the heat in the winter.

Third time to stay at this hotel. Good location, friendly staff. My only complaint was temperature regulation. Heat is controlled by main boiler system not individual room so it is either on (sweltering) or off (freezing).

I stayed for just two nights and didn't spend very much time at the hotel, but of the time I did spend there, I was very impressed! Aesthetically, the hotel is beautiful and old-fashioned, a change of pace from the chic, contemporary hotels. But it still had a nice flat-screen tv in the room with cable (though I only used it to watch the news in the morning). It was VERY quiet, which I appreciated. And the location was superb! Right in the middle of the theater district, half a black from Times Square. It was uber-convenient. Unlike most hotels I've stayed in, it was lacking a few things. There was no microwave or complimentary tea and coffee. The view out of my window was a brick wall (but as I said, I spent very little time there, so no issue with that...I never even opened the shades, except once out of curiosity). There was also no lotion in the bathroom, which I found the most odd, but overall, I didn't miss those things. It had heat and air-conditioning, and those were plenty. There was also a programmable safe in the closet, which was good for my peace of mind. This is easily one of the best hotels that I've stayed in, and I will definitely use it for future trips.

Hotel rooms are small but functional for the single traveler. Good location. Would be nice to have been able to control the temperature in the room. Staff was helpful and friendly
