Hotel Deauville

Its not the Ritz Carlton or anything. but it does the job. its clean, just enough enough space, and we had our own private bathroom. no sharing. really close to a few subways, so very convenient. and a store steps away where you can get snacks, drinks, sandwiches, food, coffee, dessert. we were in that place (Bread and Butter) alot!! also close to McDonalds (a block away) which is nice for kids or morning coffee. I WOULD ABSOLUTELY STAY HERE AGAIN WHEN WE VISIT NYC AGAIN. and we will be back for sure!!!

The staff was friendly and helpful, the building quaint, and the antique elevator DID have an operator whenever required. The good news: We liked the nearby restaurants, the Metro was so close that we rode it everywhere, and walked as well, of course, to see musicals at Times Square, to visit the MOMA, to check on progress at the Ground Zero Memorial, etc.

We booked a double room(with one bed) and a shared bathroom, on arrival we were greeted with an upgrade to two double beds and a private bathroom for no extra charge. The staff were beyond helpful (and humorous), taking us to the door of the room to ensure the keys would unlock the room. We came back around 11pm and the lights had gone out but that was no problem the front desk quickly reset the power and all was well. They were more than happy to check our bags in earlier so we could explore the city and hold them beyond check out time the following day. Wish we'd known about this place earlier will definitely be recommending it to everyone I know!

The staff was excellent- so friendly and helpful. The room was great and so comfortable. I definitely plan to stay here again the next time I visit New York!!

Very helpful staff in an ideally situated hotel for Midtown & Downtown Manhattan. Rooms perfectly functional, good beds and bathroom. Excellent eating places nearby and very good transport links, both buses and subway. Lack of airconditioning may be a problem in the summer, but overall this hotel is excellent value for money in Manhattan.

Great location and staff were helpful besides friendly,. Rooms-we actually used 2 different sizes, were actually larger than I expected for the price we paid. Were pleasantly surprised to find a pull-out sofa in our Queen room so didn't need a rollaway. Only problem with our stay was moisture in the high ceiled bathroom had some mold.

The hotel is definitely old. But it's in a good location a block from the 6 train. We were only in the room to sleep and shower, so while it wasn't the nicest place I've stayed, it worked well for what we needed. I would stay here again.

If you don't mind sharing a bathroom, then this place was perfect. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. The hotel location was perfect, just one block from a Subway and within walking distance to affordable restaurants. The room was ordinary but clean and comfortable.

I stayed in this hotel for two nights. Ihad one of the rooms with the shared bath. The room and bathroom could have been cleaner and have more amenities but it has an amazing location! I will definitely stay there again.

The hotel is vintage but well-maintained. It's not a luxury accomodation but very interesting if you like old tyme surroundings.
