Quality Hotel for Business Travelers

I didn't spend a lot of time at this hotel because I stayed there on a business trip. The room was very nice which had a nice bathroom, living room and full kitchen. It would be a great place to stay for an extended stay. I found the complimentary breakfast was nothing fancy but free breakfast is nice. I missed the complimentary dinner fare because of working late. The hotel is directly across from the University of Albany and doesn't have a lot of restraunts in walking distance however the Dunkin Donuts next door was helpful in getting my ice coffee first thing the next morning. It is good that the hotel is right next to the highway because you can get to downtown Albany in about 20 minutes. It is bad because it is right next to the highway because you can hear it although I'm not a light sleeper and I slept fine. It is nice that this hotel has an outdoor pool but it is very small so I didn't take the effor to use plus I was busy working at night in the hotel.

This was our last stop after attending our granddaughter's graduation from Vassar. We had one night to relax and recuperate from a very busy weekend. The hotel is located a short distance from major expressways (easy to find), about 10-15 minutes from the airport and is quiet and the rooms are large and nicely furnished.
As this was our only night away from family, we chose to eat a quiet dinner and see a movie at the local mall. I would highly recommend Houlihans Restaurant in the Crossgates Mall.

Safe hideaway in Albany

We were a little apprehensive about crime and vandalism in an unknown large city so were relieved to find the motel in a very safe and upscale neighbourhood. A "5 Guys" restaurant was a block away which was perfect for our group. Breakfast at the motel was much better than most, lots of choices and free. The motel was near where the 87 Northway begins or ends so this was very convenient for us.
My only tiny quibble was that their was no exhaust fan in the bathroom so the mirror took a few minutes to defog after a shower.
Motels at twice the price offer no more.

The hotel is nice. Breakfast was a little lacking. The pool area is a little lacking also. Overall if you are just looking for a night it is a nice place to stay right in albany.

The room was fine. The TV picture quality reminded me of when cable was delivered through an antenna. The remote control didn't work, which was annoying. The "full complimentary breakfast" was disgusting and the lowest quality I have ever seen! Staff was friendly. The windows open in the room which helps to air out the stale smell in the room.
Probably will not stay here again.

This hotel does not deserve its old bad reviews. Granted, it is not in the best location but it has very easy access from Interstate 90. Staff was polite and helpful with directions to downtown Albany, which is only 10-15 minutes away. Central Ave which was once the main drag for restaurants still has its share of decent places. A great Vienamese restaurant, for example. The price is very reasonable and the location is the tradeoff. The hotel room was not filthy or smelly as older reviews suggested. I would stay there again. A good alternative to Wolf road area if you want to save some money and can deal with the location. A older hotel but still a decent hotel.

They may have raised the rates because there was an event at the Empire State Plaza Convention Center at the time, but the hotel was a bit expensive. However, it had a shuttle that brought guests wherever they needed to go and provided breakfast in the morning. Great location and the shuttle definitely made it worth the stay because taxis are very expensive.

this was a business/family visit trip..hotel is new and clean...nice location, rooms are cool and kind of oriental feeling, sliding opaque door for shower and toilet area...they are separate which is good and bad...upon getting in the room, it looked spotless until i looked at granite top around sink area, sink was clean however top looked dirty and when cleaned with towel it looked yellow, hope it was coffee, maid didn't do to good in leaving clean glasses each day...plus we were charged $4.00 for phone call when we left...we both have cell phones so rather puzzling also, we wanted to check back in after a detour to Philly...phone was never answered, after 4 tries called different hotel...overall nice rooms, but watch the help! p.s. their breakfast area is nice...had fresh fruit salad, waffle making, and nice selection of cereals and muffins.

very convenient location. The shuttle service isexcellent. Also very close to the city centre and restaurants. Very quiet surroundings and I felt safe . Attended ceremony at the Empire State Plaza which was close by. Also close to highway.

A nice place to stay in Albany

The family took a week-end road trip to Albany to see the Albany Devils games Saturday night and Sunday afternoon. We got there early enough on Saturday to walk around and check out the sites. We were happy that the hotel was on the "right" side of Delaware Avenue. The room was clean, comfortable and nicely furnished - plenty of room for us 3 adults and 1 baby. The kitchen would have come in very handy if we were able to stay longer. My favorite thing - the freshly made waffles at the FREE breakfast! Delicious! The only complaint I have is that we had to check out at 11:00 - and the game didn't start until 4:00. Being a Sunday, there wasn't much to do in town. We took a ride out on the highway to a mall and spent time there and ate before the game. It would have been nice to have been able to stay in the room until 1:00.

I found the staff to be friendly and very helpful, great location very near the Capital and Empire Plaza. Ate lunch at the bar on the second floor and food was excellent. Drawback for some may be no tub. Huge walk in shower was great for me. Will definitely stay there again.

Stayed at this hotel because of price.We were here to see some hockey games.The Hotel was a bit far from the arena (1.5 miles)but that wasn't a problem because we both like to walk.The room was clean and comfortable,would consider staying again in the future.

We stayed at the hotel for the convienience of attending the NY Giants training camp as well as Saratoga Race Track. SUNY Albany is directly across the street. It was our second stay at the hotel. I think that next time I'm going to go somewhere else. The room's walls were a little beat up and the carpet had numerous stains. I must have forgotten but you don't get daily room service other then getting new towels (If requested). However the staff were very friendly. There are many other hotels along the same strip of Washington Ave to choose from. I think next time I'll spend a little more and and stay somewhere else. If you're not too picky about hotel rooms this hotel will suit you fine. The rooms have a refrigerator, stove, microwave, etc.,

At check in the receptionist could not even answer simple questions or give me directions to my room or where to park. The room was filthy. The bed looked like it had been slept in. The pillows were yellow and spotted and in addition to the dirty ;inenes I have never seen such a filthy mattress cover or blanket in a hotel. The carpets has large ares of stain and burn holes. The room had a strong, peculiar odor. I could not regulate the heat and the curtains would not draw completely closed. I asked for a second room which was just as bad. I went to the front desk and a different receptionist went and got me a NEW mattress cover and pillows and blanket and sheets and pillow cases that had been washed. Overall, this hotel was not remotely how it was described and I certainly would not even consider giving it a second try despite my frequent trips to Albany.

Hotel is generally good, but they need to take care of a few maintenance issues. I have stayed here three times. The curved shower rails in the bathroom are loose at the wall fittings so the shower curtains slides towards the middle of the rail.
It's not possible to enter the second entrance door to the hotel as your pass key doesn't work. This has been like this ever since I started staying in this hotel.

Just a business trip this time to Albany. Last minute plans so didn't have much time to shop around. Clean hotel and great location for meeting. But a bit pricy. After all , this is Albany and not a major city.

Great location new SUNY Albany and downtown Albany. Also near the Mall. Nestled in the long row of hotels in this part of town. Great indoor pool and spa. Checkin was quick and easy, quiet room, no complaints. Very soft bed!

All I needed was a place to lay my head, be by myself and this was it. It was not a 5 star hotel by any means. It had what I wanted, clean bed, tv, clean towels, no bells and whistles.

I needed a place to stay traveling on Rt 87. It was a great price, but you get what you pay for. The bed was very clean and comfortable and the sink was clean. Other than that, the room needed replacements. A lot of the room was older. The area was fairly safe to stay. This is a good place to stay if you just need a good night's rest. Check in and out was fast.

I checked in about 8:30 pm after leaving my daughter at the College of St Rose. Fortunately, earlier that day, I had driven by the Hotel and found it via the numbers in the window of the Brownstone. The address was more difficult at night to see. Also, parking was difficult to obtain at that time. However to make up for that, the staff was wonderful and made me feel right at home. The hotel is beautiful and charming. My room was very comfortable and quiet.

You get what you pay for.

My boyfriend and I decided to go to Albany for my birthday weekend and for some reason the lobby and hallways always smelled funny. Check in was at 2pm, but the room was not ready till about 5pm. At around $40 a night for a non smoking room with a king size bed, you get what you pay for. A working bathroom with towels and tiny bars of soap, no blow dyer, no shampoo and conditioner, a bed, 3 dresser draws, 20" T.V. chairs and table, place to hang clothing and stand for your suitcase, no iron or ironing bored. On the plus side the big bed, cleanliness of the room and size of the room. We don't drive so cabs where about $7 to $10 and the number 2 bus stop located right out side the motel takes you to downtown Albany $1.50 for each person each way.

We arrived early around 12:30 we new that check in wasn't until 2pm. However the staff said they would be getting my room done first since I had arrived already. My room was not ready till 2:45 and other ppl who had arrived way after I had were able to get into their rooms by 2pm. When we were told it was ready it had not been vacumed. When we arrived back that night our room key had become deactivated. Not so happy with this place :(
