small but nice
The hotel room was nice, comfortable, very clean and high tech (motion detector in the closet to turn the closet light on, really sophisticated TV options, etc.). The staff were very helpful and professional. Neighborhood near the train station which is convenient but a bit "colorful" although we never felt unsafe. The only problem was the size of the room which gave us a bit of a squeeze - OK but tight. Hotels in Hamburg seem quite expensive so price was not shocking but still higher than we wanted to pay, however the room quality was high. Ate breakfast and other meals outside so cannot comment on restaurant.

Best Western in Hamburg
One of the items of information requested when I signed in was by brithday and having breakfast the mext morning on my Birthday the hotel staff alerted our witress about my birthday. She brought out a blueberry muffin with a candle in it wishing me a happy birthday! That was great customer service. To bad the hotels in the US don't think about the little things like they did over in Germany.

Sightseeing tips:
Short drive from hotel
Take time to go and see the Minituar Wunderland. It takes about 5 to 10 minutes by taxi from the hotel or about 30 minutes to walk. It is worth seeing all the miniture model rail roads and all the scenes through out the building. Make sure to get reservations online!!!

For the brave and bold
The staff was friendly and helpful; the food in the hotel was quite good and the rooms were nice. The downside is that we asked for a non-smoking room and got a smoking room. Both my wife and I are allergic to tobacco smoke. Also, the neighborhood is not great. I came close to being mugged a half block away from the hotel in the early evening, therefore I would suggest eating at the hotel rather than venturing out. We would stay at another location if we have occasion to visit Hamburg in the future.

Hamburg Hauptbanhof friendly
The convenience of having this hotel so close to the main train station is wonderful. It was our "hub" when taking the ICE trains to Berlin, Hanover etc. Request room 530. Did not try their restaurant but the special on Friday, and Saturday night was sold out.
