Icon Hotel

I read some reviews, and was hesitant because it sounded a bit odd, but I will absolutely stay here again if at all possible. Its very close to the action, but offset by a few blocks so you can easily get away from the bustle to enjoy other non-tourist things to do in the city... You may experience a few loud drunks walking down the street from time to time, a trucks picking up refuse or delivering merchandise early in the morning, but its a bustling city and you will have this so enjoy it. Overall, this is a great boutique hotel with an interesting decor, large rooms (compared to many other hotels in the downtown area of any worldly city), a super friendly staff, several bars and restaurants on the street to enjoy on the way back to the hotel after dinner and/or drinks elsewhere, good drinks/food in the hotel bar (which stays open late), plenty of non-tourist bodegas and shops in the area (off the main drag) to get snacks and beverages... I was there for business, and spent a lot of my daytime inside do just that, but quickly found during a few days of R&R out that this hotel is a few blocks from everything. Prague is a very good walking city and I made it to the outskirts of the city in several directions from this hotel after only about one hour by casual meandering (its ~10 min to the clock tower, 20 min to the Charles bridge, and 40 min to to gates of the main castle). The public transportation is also outstanding and there are both subway and tram stops within a 5 min. walk that will take you everywhere/anywhere you need to go while you are visiting. The main rail terminal is also a short 10min walk away, so getting in and out of the city from abroad was easy (its more than a trek from the airport, so definitely take a cab for that journey). The hotel also has free wifi so you can get your Google maps and walking/driving/transportation directions cached for the day, then blast off into the city to enjoy the sights, sounds, and flavors.

I stayed in the Icon Hotel for 5 days and it was a comfortable and pleasant experience. The hotel is right in the centre, very near Wencelas Square. It is clean, comfortable and has a cool contemporary feel. There is also a nice bar that has live music some nights. The staff are very friendly and helpful and I will definitly stay in this hotel again. The all day breakfast is brilliant too as this meand that you dont need to rush out of bed in the morning or risk missing breakfast!
