To get to the Paragon Hotel in Birmingham, UK you have to walk down a very dangerous and filthy street. We honestly felt in danger from the area surrounding the hotel. Upon arrival we had a very dirty and small small small room. There was hair all in our bed and everything about the room was old and dirty. We complained to the front desk and they gave us another room. This was definitely an upgrade and the room was cleaner and more comfortable. The staff was so friendly and helpful to give us advice on a close place to eat and with our room difficulties. Without their kindness the entire stay would have been absolutely miserable. I still wouldn't recommend this hotel due to the dangerous and out of the way location. The hotel had an eerie feeling about it and I will definitely never stay there again. But thanks to the kind and helpful staff...they made our night better! I wouldn't put this hotel on a recommended list and would actually discourage people from staying there!

I love staying at this hotel when visiting Birmingham. As long as you are not after a room with a view this hotel is very reasonably priced, clean, very friendly staff and buffet hot and cold breakfast included in the price. Only 10 minutes walk or short bus ride from Bullring shopping centre. The hotel is on an industrial estate but we prefer this to being amongst the hustle and bustle of hotels on main ring roads and near all the nightlife as it is much quieter at night.

I went to the Paragon for only a night, and while it was find for bunking down, it was nothing special. About a 15 min walk from the main shopping centre in the city (the Bull Ring), it is in a very quiet part of town, with very little around it. The room was small and clean and very basic, it is not so much a three star property as a two star one. I had some trouble with hot water to my room which was dealt with swiftly and very politely by the staff. If you're just looking for somewhere to sleep and aren't fussed about luxuries, then the Paragon is excellent value.

It was pretty good and the bed was confortable. No foods close by so you can order and have food delivered.

For 25L per day/per room great value, for standard price 125L/per day/per person be not taking :)

Staff were very accomadating and freindly, would stay their again.

Free wireless internet did not work on this visit, though it has worked well previously. A good location if you are travelling by National Express to Birmingham. It's not far from Digbeth Coach Station (or the current temporary coach station nearby).

Hotel is less than 5 mins from coach station and about a 10-15 min walk. Location is a bit of a let down as you are surrounded by brown derelicit buildings. Staff were friendly and dealt with a problem with the shower(no hot water) within minutes. Only other downside was the dining area. 'The hot plates' were not kept full so you had to take what was there then go back whenever it was 'topped' up. The tables weren't cleared and again we had to clear them ourselves as no member of staff was really on hand expect if they were filling the hot plates or we happen 2 catch one of them in passing. Hotel is ok for 1/2 nights. Shooping centre is massive - all the shops are therr & the market is right in front of it.
