Tryp Gran Via

Hotel was centrally located in the city (near Plaza Mayor), close to shops and restaurants by walking distance, and next to a metro stop (Gran Via). However, the side street from the hotel had hookers. Hotel price was very cheap when I booked it so it's perfect if you're on a tight budget. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast buffet was cheap too (8 euros if you pre-paid at the reception desk). Hotel is very old, shows sign of age and needs to be updated. Carpets need to changed/cleaned and rooms re-painted. Room was a decent size with twin size bed. Bed was fine but my friend, who stayed in the same hotel, said that she had a hard bed (felt like sleeping on the boxspring). Bathroom was clean but again, shows age. My friend's bathroom had mold in the shower. A/C was turned off in the early in the morning and turned on again in the afternoon by the hotel. You have to pay for WiFi which is expensive and even if you use the internet by the reception desk you still have to pay to use (15 mins = 6 euros).

The Tryp Gran Via is a great choice in Madrid. It is located steps from the Gran Via Metro stop, close to tons of shops, restaurants and major attractions in central Madrid. It is also easily accessible from the airport via the Madrid Metro. The staff here was incredibly friendly and helpful, providing me great information on activities taking place while I was there. The room is very nice, it has the basic needs (bed, safe, flat screen TV-mostly Spanish channels, comfortable size bathroom). My only complaint is that you can easily hear what's going on outside, the walls are paper thin.

This is a great hotel, fantastic buffet breakfast everyday at low prices. Clean rooms and a wonderful very large all marble bathroom. The central location of the hotel right on the Gran Via in the center of town makes it a great value, I highly recommend it and would stay there again without hesitation.

The place is a little tired, but still quite acceptable for a short stay.

The hotel is ok, nothing special but the noise at night from Gran via Street is terrible.

El hotel está en el centro de Madrid. La habitación que nos tocó era de amplias dimensiones, ubicada hacia la ochava. No tiene un centro al alcance desde la cama desde el que se pueda manejar la iluminación, eso le quita algun punto, y es algo antigua para nuestro gusto. La atención me parece que es acorde con lo que nos sucedió en el resto de la ciudad, en la que quienes dan servicios (mozos, por ejemplo) nos resultaron un poco parcos, duros. Moni y Silvio

Grand hôtel impersonnel mais assez central sur la Gran Via. La chambre est spacieuse, et la salle de bain est propre même si la décoration est un peu ancienne. Hôtel beaucoup plus calme (et mieux sonorisé) que beaucoup d'hôtels en Espagne.
