Hostal Oxum

The staff were very accommodating, and anything I needed [which was not much] was gladly managed. The breakfast provided was basic, but also was sufficient enough to be able to take with and sustain me for well into the afternoon. And the room, itself, felt safe and secure, with the one issue being the noise - not so much from the outside, but you could hear everything the other guests were doing. Fortunately, as a frequent traveler, I always have earplugs and melatonin in my luggage. I wanted to also emphasize that the staff was very pleasant and kind to deal with. I emphasize this because I noticed on Trip Adviser that they were excoriated as being rude and unprofessional; nothing could be further from the truth. I have to wonder if those travelers may have been up to something untoward and other customers complained, requiring a reprimand. My experience was nothing like that. They were great!

Very central for Nightlife. Basic but clean. No lift - 3rd floor. Central court (quiet) room possible.

Il s'agit d'un Hostal et non d'un hotel, de fait le service n'est pas la priorité de ce genre d'établisssement. Idéalement situé au centre de Madrid, à deux pas de Gran Via et des rues commerçantes , l'hostal est trés propre , bien aménagé , décoré avec soint et bien équipé (mini cuisine complète,coin salon, coin repas,seule la salle de bain m'est apparue un peu étroite ). L'hostal est dans un immeuble ancien du centre ( pas de parking), l'isolation accoustique n'est pas son point fort d'autant plus qu'il est dans une rue trés animée de jour comme de nuit.Etablissement à recommander au vu du prix, si vous allez à Madrid pour le shopping ou vous distraire.

Fantastic place--really convenient for Chueca as well Madrid tourist sights and you can't beat the price. The room was surprisingly spacious and had everything we needed. Will definitely return.

The hostal is very close to the metro which connects you to anything you want to do in the city. There are many places to eat and lively nightlife within walking distance. There are many sights to see within a 15 minute walk or a short bus/metro ride. The location seems sketchy but the rooms are very nice. However, I arrived late because of my flight and I wasn't able to check in until the next day so it left me scrambling to find another hotel nearby. If you plan on arriving late, I would recommend letting them know ahead of time because there is no front desk to check-in at. Besides that, I really enjoyed my stay at Hostal Oxum and would recommend it!

Buena ubicacion, tienes internet en la habitacion, nevera con algo para tomar, a solo 2 cuadras de gran via, las instalaciones muy buenas, todo reformado, pero lo mejor es el servicio y la amabilidad de quienes trabajan alli. Lo unico malo es que queda en el 3er piso y no hay ascensor.

Oxum Hostal is located on the third floor (no elevator), so this is not a good choice for those who have trouble climbing approx. 70 steps. Don't be surprised by "American service": no reception, no breakfast room etc.; instead, you have a microwave and a fridge, and the breakfast is deposited the previous day. All in all, this system worked very well, and the staff was very kind. Free WLAN in the rooms, and we were even offered a free netbook (Eee PC 900).
