Quality and Value
I could not be more pleased with our stay at the Hotel Clarion Collection With. First, the hotel clerk gave us a free room upgrade because we were staying for 8 days. We got a large penthouse room with an amazing view of the Tromso waterfront. This hotel includes 3 daily meals (even on Sunday) with the price. In a city as expensive as Tromso it was a major plus for the budget conscious traveler. Finally, the night clerk went way out of his way to be helpful, calling us on several occasions to wake us when the northern lights appeared. One night the auroras were mesmerizing !!! A real gem of a hotel !!!

Sightseeing tips:

If you stay in Tromso try a guided aurora hunt. I can highly recommend two tours. Guide Gunnar is an expert in finding the northern lights, even on nights when their is a blizzaed in Tromso. Also, Arctic Guide Services is an enjoyable excursion. Anja, our tour guide, was so helpful to a group of thirty people in setting our cameras correctly to photoshoot the auroras. We got some amazing photos !!!

Excellent Hotel. Excellent value.
Excellent Hotel. Excellent value. Great location. Very friendly and helpful staff. Good and plentiful food. This is a 5 star hotel (without a pool or gym) pretending to be a 4 star hotel.

The hotel is in a lovely location,
The hotel is in a lovely location, the staff were very helpful, the provision of evening food made a huge difference to our holiday budget. Niggles; no toiletries in the rooms, except soap on the wall; the only way our room was serviced was that the duvets were straightened; beds weren't made, bins weren't emptied, bathroom untouched. We were disappointed to have twin beds shoved together, rather than a double as requested; it was an anniversary holiday, after all!

Staff very helpful and polite.
Staff very helpful and polite. Offered information when asked and also felt they were interested in our comfort and enjoying our stay. Would definately consider staying there again...only problem was price so would only be for few days rather than whole week unless any promotions offered.

We stayed at the Clarion Collection
We stayed at the Clarion Collection during a four day break in Tromso. The rooms were adequate, but have showers only. Recommed booking a superior room in order to get the harbouir view. Although only listed as a B&B, tea and coffee is provided throughout the day, waffles in the afternoon and an evening buffet at no additional cost. All in all, excellent value and will book their again when I return to Tromso.
