Beijing Redwall Hotel Forbidden City

This hotel is in a great location to see many sights as well in the center of the city. I stayed in a budget room and was very fine the Internet worked very well in my room. One CCTV English speaking TV world news station Chanel so, no HBO. Room very clean and quite as for the staff they were very helpful. I will stay here again.

Das Redwall Hotel ist ein typisch chinesisches Hotel, ausgesattet nach chinesischem Standard. (viel Kitsch, wenig Komfort, kaum Service) Das Personal war schon bei der Ankunft unfreundlich und vorwurfsvoll. Uns wurde zuerst ein Zimmer im Keller, ohne Fenster!!!! angeboten. Nach viel hin und her haben wir doch ein Zimmer im 2. Stock bekommen. Das Bett war ok und sauber, jedoch der Teppisch total verschmutzt. Frühstück ein absolutes no-go! Fazit: investier lieber ein bischen mehr, damit man ein gescheites Hotel buchen kann, z.B. eine Kette wie Marriott oder Hilton, es lohnt sich!

It was difficult getting to the hotel because the taxi drivers didn't seem to recognize it.

This hotel is in a nice spot. About a 15 min walk from the Forbidden City. The room was pretty good. They actually bumped us up from the economy room when we got there. However, I paid for our stay with my discover card and when we got to the hotel they require a 500 yen deposit either by cash or credit card. They didn't accept my discover card so I had 500 less yen to enjoy my trip with (we got the deposit when we checked out). Everything at this hotel cost money including water and even coffee in the room. The continental breakfast that I thought was included was not and cost us another 38 yen a person and it was not very good. The dinner we got was pizza fries and two drinks which cost us 287 yen so if you are staying at this hotel bring your own water or buy it outside the hotel and do not eat there.

L'hotel est bien situé, juste derrière la Cité Interdite. L'hotel aurait besoin d'un rafraichissement, surtout au niveau de la moquette. Le personnel était très serviable, le restauarnt pour le PDJ était mal chauffé.

this is my 2nd time stayed at same hotel.i will stay again if i am going back to beijing

All good except the internet not working in our room. The hotel gave us some food presents for the Chinese new year. Nice restaurant

The Hotel was very close to the Forbiden City, was a few blocks and you get there. You can also go by a taxi if you don`t want to walk. It takes several minutes to get to the entrance. Besides this the Hotel is in a quiet place and the room was confortable and very clean.

The location was great. Within walking distance, if you like to walk, of the Forbiddeen City, and the Drum and Bell Towers. Also around the corner were little resturantans and food stalls. The Hotel had a grreat free breakfast.

Overall the Hotel was a good recharge point. I didn't travel around the world to spend all my time in the hotel so not having things such as cable tv or room service were not a big deal. the lcoation of the hotel is about a block to the Forbidden City and Behai park and close to the subway. Taxi's are everywhere and are relatively cheap so no worries about transportation. There are two restuarants in the hotel. One western, the other Chinese. The western lounge\cafe has a pool table and a younger crowd but it is comfortable and the food is not bad. The Chinese restuarant has a decent breakfast buffet inspite of the weak coffee. I would not recommend going there for other meals unless you speak Mandarin as it can be difficult to communicate your order (the waitress I dealt with had little english skills but certainly tried). If you are wondering about bringing a laptop to surf the internet or view your digital photos - bring it. While the hotel offers free internet and PC for rent, the PC's are in Mandarin so it is very difficult to perform an action on the PC that isn't within Explorer (I had to update a PC with Java to reach my companies VPN and it took about an hour). As far as recharging\plugging in electronics: The rooms have built in adapters to allow the western style (USA) plugs without needing anything additional. Keep in mind that if you plan to charge your camera\cell phone while having breakfast -don't. When you leave the room you'll take your card with you which will turn off the power to the room. The power only works when you place your room card in the slot near the front door. Great way to save electricity, but a bummer if you were counting on your camera\phone being charged after breakfast. If you are looking for a hotel that offers food, hot shower, clean safe room (might be small for two people) and a central location the Redwall is a great choice.
