The Prince Park Tower Tokyo

Prince Park Tower Tokyo is a nice hotel if you are looking for a beautiful lobby, high floors with a view, and an attentive English-speaking hotel staff. However, the guest rooms themselves are a little outdated - the room was very clean but rather small for the price we paid (and we had a discounted price of $255 a night!) and for the older furniture and carpet, and the bed was not as comfortable as we would have liked (rather firm and hard). The room aesthetic just didn't match the 5-star feel of the rest of the hotel. We were disappointed and would have been upset if we had paid full price. On the other hand the bathroom was gorgeous, with gleaming marble floors and walls and an awesome standing shower and large bathtub. The toilet was not as cool as others we had experienced throughout Japan - an older model of the Japanese washlet. Still cool though. The location is very close to Roppongi which is an international hub of Tokyo known for great restaurants and clubs and for being on the expensive side. The closest subway station is Akabenabashi on the Oedo line, and the station is very close (a 3 minute walk down the street and easy to find) but requires transferring to another line in order to get anywhere besides Roppongi. Almost every outing required a transfer at Daimon station which then required a long walk across to "connected" station Hamamatsucho and then a transfer onto the JR lines or other subway lines. The subway ride up to Tokyo station takes 10-15 minutes. Heading up to popular Ueno or Asakusa areas or traveling west to Shibuya or Shinjuku will take you a minimum of 25-30 minutes due to transfers. We did enjoy the Japanese bakery downstairs in the lobby (connected to their gift shop) to grab something quick for breakfast on our way out the door to get started on our sightseeing. Delicious pastries and breads for just 150-300 yen a piece. The hotel also offers Japanese breakfast in the restaurant for 3700 yen per person, or a Western style breakfast buffet on the top floor for I think 1900 yen per person. We didn't try either as they were quite expensive in comparison with other hotel breakfasts we encountered and we were happy with a quick grab and go breakfast. The hotel also offers an "airport shuttle" which actually translates to a shuttle bus that picks you up from (or takes you to) the bus terminal at Hamamatsucho station, with a bus pickup every 30 minutes up until about 9pm. We did try this on our way in and it was convenient to take the bus rather than transfer subway trains and stations couple times with all of our luggage. The Airport Limo Bus also stops at the hotel which is convenient for only 900 yen one-way, but there are only a couple buses that take you to the hotel from Haneda Airport so we opted to just take the free shuttle bus in to Hamamatsucho station and then take the Tokyo Monorail from there. All in all, this is a nice hotel where a lot of foreigners stay, but I wouldn't pay more than $170 a night in America for a hotel of equal quality. The entrance and lobby is impressive and the staff is very accommodating and speaks great English (with a great concierge to help you figure out how to get places) but the room was just so-so and not that impressive. If a view from your room is important to you than it may be worth the splurge but otherwise we much preferred the hotels we stayed in near Tokyo Station as they were great quality and luxury for a more affordable price and at a better location to get us around in the city.

This hotel and its staff was awsome. There may be better locations, but it was much of a walk to several subway stations. The hotel even gives a voucher if you do not want your room cleaned which was enough for a sushi lunch at a hotel resaurant.

The service at this hotel was absolutely amazing! The only inconvenience was that the location is close to two subway lines, but a 15-20 minute walk to the Tokyo Metro lines. However, after I came to understand the Tokyo subway, things became much easier... The best part was the 1,000 yen coupons if you chose not to have your room cleaned each day. I had enough for an excellent sushi lunch at the hotel restaraunt the day I checked out.

The hotel was definitely above average and the location was spectacular. I also really enjoyed the bathroom - shower, tub & japanese toilet. I liked the free tea and the ability to boil water at anytime in the room. A few things I didn't love: - the bed was too hard - the balcony was extremely small - the staff didn't speak enough English. One example: the woman working at the gift shop had no problem scolding me when she thought I picked up the boulangerie bread incorrectly. "Not Japanese way" were her exact words. But when I tried to explain I had done it that way, she did not understand at all and kept scolding. In general I thought the staff could be a bit nicer.

The only negative perhaps is that the restaurants in the hotel are fairly expensive. However, they do have a store with reasonable price items.

I stayed at this hotel several times this year, no complaints so far and always been satisfied...

Gute Lage, einige Plätze wie Tokio Tower, Roppongi,Restaurants & Läden, sogar Hafengebiet auch zu Fuss machbar. Grosse Zimmer (3 Bett-Zimmer). Starkes Wifi auf dem Zimmer, nicht aber in Lobby. Schade: Pool (und Spa) nicht für unter 20 Jährige und zusätzlich 2000 Yen pro Besuch. Ebenfalls Schade: Super Hotelbar im Dachgeschoss, aber extrem teuer und zusätzlich Y500 Tischfee pro Person.

I am compelled to write a review for the Prince Park Hotel in Tokyo in oder to spare others from wasting money here. I honestly question how this Hotel could be so highly rated on Trip Advisor, as it was terrible over all. I planned a free weekend for my wife and I in Tokyo, and wanted to stay in a nicer Hotel. Prince Park seemed to be not quite as expensive as others (Ritz, Hyatt) but had all the amenities and a nice location. This is not the case. The value for the room was the worst I have seen in more than 20 years travel. We had two single beds, that were very firm (uncomfortably so), in a "non-smoking" room that obviously had been used as a smoke room, that smelled terribly. The sheets were worn, the paint was dingy, and the furniture and curtains felt like a cheap motel. The Spa was nice, an extra 2,200 yen, the lobby looks nice as well, but the restaurants in the Hotel were terribly overpriced. (steak was $300 to start). Truly outrageous prices, even for Tokyo. The location really isn't great, with a walk or expensive cab ride to get anywhere. Honestly, if you are going to spend the money, go to the Hyatt or Ritz. If you are looking to save money, stay anywhere but here. Of course the staff were friendly, but this is not unusual in Japan. Terrible, terrible hotel experience. I feel I wasted a precious weekend at this place because of the trumped up reviews on line.

Great hotel, we ended up getting updated. Big size room, which is unusual for Japan.

Very nice hotel. Very clean, friendly staff, and spacious room. Nice bathroom, bath, and shower. Good views of the city from the 14th floor, and in a convenient location right next to a beautiful park and Tokyo Tower. The only downside was we had two beds and only needed one. A single bed instead of two would have been better.
