American Palace Hotel Rome

The hotel was too far from downtown Rome where all the attractions are. We had to take the metro, which isn't a great ride to take especially in the summer. The good thing was that it was close to a big grocery store and metro stop. The room itself was small, with a king size bed made out of two double beds pushed together, which was horrible because if the sheets became loose then your bed was a double again. The shower was poorly engineered with the shower head being in the middle and facing perpendicular to the bathtub, thus this left a pool of water on the floor of the bathroom. It was not very clean either, with gunk in between the tiles of the bathroom. All in all, it is better to choose a hotel in the heart of the city than to have to take the metro everywhere.

The hotel is more than adequate as a place to rest your head while visiting Rome and so served its purpose well for our group of two couples. It is close to the end of the 'B Line' on the Metro (Laurentino station) and it cost us less than 25 Euros to take a taxi to Ciampino airport (we would recommend this over attempting public transport, as the buses are quite infrequent from the Metro stations and no train station at Ciampino itself). However, the breakfast buffet is not as lavish as suggested on the Orbitz website ("Particularly care is given to the buffet breakfast, enriched by a creative mixture of salty and sweet flavours"). The coffee (though not horrible) was from a machine, the fruit juices made similarly from on-demand diluted concentrate and the breads seemed rather stale. the rooms are small with inadequate air conditioning (important for Rome in Late summer), there are no 'bathrobes' as described on the website and there are no airport transfers. All in all, it was a fair hotel with a fair price, but I would certainly not rate it as 4-stars.

Probably the worst hotel of our 2 week vacation in Italy. Certainly the worst room. It was so tiny that literally when we had to walk in the room we could not do it at the same time. Staff was polite but unfriendly.

Hotel is not four stars. My room was tiny , I didn t even have the space to move my suitcase, there were 20 cm between the bed and the wall, the TV was small and from the seventies and you could disconnect it at any time as the cable was dangerously put between the bed and the wall and considering there was a limited space to move you could hit it at any time if not careful . Do not go if you need to spend more than one night.

not good. I wrote them 2 emails, but hotel did not response me with single word!! And they also do not give other contact information!

For the price, the hotel was good. Room a bit small, bed uncomfortable, and air conditioning didn't work well. But a good value for Rome!!!Also very convenient to Metro which was a plus!

decent location, within walking distance to Laurentina metro station, priced reasonably, good accommodations, breakfast included, supermarket nearby, friendly and helpful staff.
