We enjoyed our stay especially
We enjoyed our stay especially as we were offerred an upgrade on arrival for a small fee. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The only small problem was the birds at breakfast. Even though the area was "fenced" in, a bird got in and was annoying on our table and the buffet table.

Good hotel!
Hotel was great! Good accommodations, good location (walking distance to the bridge on the other side of the Orno River), and good complimentary continental breakfast).

Great location - very comfortable
We really enjoyed this hotel. It is not luxurious, but comfortable. The location is excellent for the price - just across the river and close to the bridge. We could easily walk everywhere - about 15 minutes to the Duomo - 10 to the Uffizi. The rooms were spacious and attractive with nice views. The breakfast is nice - we ate outdoors every morning in a covered patio area and found it to be a really enjoyable way to start the day. There are several casual restaurants close by that were good. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful in getting our museum reservations. We would definitely stay here again.

Sightseeing tips:
Long walk from hotel
The Piazzala Michaelangolo is worth the trip - fantastic view of the city, although it looks closer on the map! It's a long, steep walk or a short drive from the hotel.

A good value and a neat place
We had high expectations for the Hotel Silla and staying in it for three nights. For the most part our expectations were met. When we arrived, they gave us a very small room which we thought did not merit three stars, however they changed it without our asking the next day and moved our baggage to a much larger and very nice room. The rest of the stay went well and without incident. The night attendant, [...], was extremely knowledgable about Florence and Italy and particularly about art and restaurants. His suggestion of the Omera Restaurant on Michelangelo Hill resulted in the very best meal of our two week Tuscany vacation. The location of Hotel Silla is quite nice and quiet. The Terrace overlooks a nice little park and would be very pleasant except for the pidgeons which they battle constantly. I would recommend this hotel and I would return to it again unquestionably.

Short walk from hotel
We had one of the most economical and best tasting dinners of our Italy vacation in a restaurant mainly catering to the locals which just one block from the Hotel on the same front street. It is between the hotel and the Piti Palace and the Ponte Vecchio.
