Athens Imperial Hotel

There was a lot of problems with this hotel, I will highlight the good aspects in case it still is a good fit for your travels. The location was excellent for being in the middle of Athens, and the room was kept clean for the most part, sometimes had to track down a person to clean the room but some of the hotel staff could speak english. Now for the BAD. The hotel advertises a lot of services and does not actually perform them. There is no assistance in tour set up, no hotel to airport transfer except by taxi. No 100% internet or cable, the whole hotel was without it half of our stay. The movies are 15 euros unless you buy the 30 euro package for internet, cable, and movies. There is a limited breakfast, not worth the 40 euros. There is NO gift shop within the hotel. Trying to get the airconditioning to work failed, they were called several times to fix it and never did (7 phone calls & 2 visits to the front desk). On a side note the way they fixed the problem with the internet was to have a technician come up and unplug it from the tv.... thanks a lot ! not really, but to highlight some of the surrounding area, theres a nice restaurant 20 feet from the hotel called Alexander's Restaurant I think. Very GOOD food. There is a mini grocery not far from the hotel if you go out the front, to the right, at the corner go right and straight 1 street, go right again and halfway down is a decent grocery, DONT go at night, its to dangerous from what the locals said. Over all, this hotel is more like a 2 or three star hotel, just because you put 5 stars on the top of your building doesnt make you a 5 star hotel.

We were only at the Hotel for one night because of the strike @ the airport, but we had a wonderful experience at the Hotel. Every interaction with the Hotel from the time we entered until we left was excellent. Everyone was helpful and answered any questions that we had.

Twin beds in a double room; filthy, tattered carpets in the hallway; unsafe neighborhood; breakfast 22 EU (not included in room price); ancient television; simply nothing above average and a lot that was below average.

While this hotel may be advertised as 5 stars, it is nowhere near a five stars experience. The amenities are silly (a CD player instead of something useful like coffee) and a terrible, terrible neighborhood. I only stayed there because I had business nearby, but even now I doubt I would ever, ever stay again. It's decent, in the sense that you can simply sleep there if you don't care about anything else. But if you desire comfort, look elsewhere

I did not stay there as the location posted on the site is misleading. I found out only after I booked and the hotel refused to refund my money. [...] The Hotel is not where they have it mapped and is in fact in an area that is best to be avoided. Do not stay at this hotel!

Nicest and most kind staff that we have ever encountered. They couldn't do enough for us.

Great hotel...very "American" feel as the rooms were large and modern. Service was great, and was extremely close to the metro station.

The hotel was in a great location. Across the street from the train station and the taxi service was cheap to practically anywhere in the city. n

It was our first stop in Athens and staff was very helpful in hints for visiting the city. Great little restaurant right across the street and supermarket within two blocks.
