Hotel 216-224 Faubourg

These pictures make this hotel look much better than it is. It is slightly in a sketchy neighborhood, its staircase is dark and occasionally uneven, elevator is too small to lift more than 150kg (wherein a wheel chair might not fit) and TV in each room is extremely big compared to the size of the whole room (which might not be negative for some) and some thing in the room does not quite work perfectly (but not bad enough to report). I noticed how some of the motion sensor light switches didn't quite work and their hallway is narrow and extremely dark. The first room with a queen size bed had a very thin wall and you might need to close the bathroom door and then volume up TV not to hear anything from the next room. BUT if you are a type of person who needs a place as a base camp for going around the city of Paris, I will still recommend this hotel. It posts four good points:1) location, 2) staff, 3) basic cleanness, 4) price. It is located ten minutes walk from Gare du Nord and two minutes from La Chapelle (line 2). You can basically go around the whole city of Paris counter clockwise from taking the line two et al or go straight to the heart of it or other parts of europe by using Gare du Nord. Staff did not strike me as being professional but all of them were friendly and helpful. That's, I think, a huge plus in this city. They bring you clean sheets and clean towels. That's all I ask from a good place to sleep. Finally, it's very affordable. You pay this price and they leave you alone. You don't have to think about how much tip you have to give to the porters and make some small talk with the staff. They leave you to whatever you need to do in Paris and I am glad that I stayed in that place.

The area looked a bit dodgy at first, but turned out not to be that bad. It's close to the Eurostar station and really close to a metro station. The hotel is smaller than expected, but was happy with the rooms and service. The breakfast was good, and the staff friendly. Good value for money.

It was good, near the Gare du Nord International train station so it was really easy for me to the station at 5 a.m. It was on January, a chilly night and early morning travel. Hotels, cafes and restaurants were nearby. The metro is near so not far from many attractions and the airport to by train. if you are taking a shared taxi then it will cost you 18 Euros (this is the price on 2010 Jan) or by cab almost 36 to 40 Euros. The only problem I had was no internet was there....

The room we had in this hotel was tiny (even by European standards) however it was very clean and new and the airconditioning a welcome relief on a very hot day. The hotel is very close to Gare du Nord. Staff were friendly and helpful. Overall this is a good hotel and I would stay again but only for a short stay of one or perhaps two nights due to the room size.

If you book in low season, it is very good value for money, high quality for the price and a nice continental breakfast inclusive.

very unpleasant"welcome". Arriving at 1 pm, rather tired, I am told that "these reservations" are only dealt with from 2 o'clock. Then I have to pay before entering the room. If you have very big luggage, you can forget about the lift, which can take no more than 1 medim sized person and one medim-sized suitcase. The room is small, but clean though it has a smell, which you can't eradicate by opening the window becaus it opens on another building,very close. the bathroom is very small but clean and with the necessary apparatus including a hair-dryer. the place is well-lit. There was a mini-bar which I had to move to find a plug but which didn't work. There is also a safe on the floor, which means you have to be on all fours to use it. Finally I went to the computer in the lobby which you can use free of charge but when I typed "a", q was written and there were more letters like that, so I gave up. Needless to say I don't know why this hotel is recommended

This was a lovely place to stay. Very close to Gare de Nord and to the Metro. Easy to get to places we wanted to visit. Place was lovely and clean with nice decor. The staff was very helpful. Will definitely stay there again.

Bon rapport qualité/prix, proche de la gare de l'est, accueil jovial.Par contre, petit déjeuner leger et pas prêt.

Rien à redire sur les prestations de cet hôtel ci ce n'est sur le petit déjeuner, leger et prêt à une heure plus que tardive.

Hôtel sympatique, bien situé près des 2 gares. Accueil agréable. Gros bémol sur le petit déjeuner, pas encore prêt à être servi à 7h45.
