ABBATIAL SAINT GERMAIN

Very happy with this choice of hotel. The staff was knowledgable and helpful. Location was ideal ... we could walk to everything and it was "hopping"! Room was great ... small by U.S. standards but generous for Paris. I would recommend to anyone planning a quick trip and desiring a very central location.

This hotel was very cozy. A bit small but it was nice and very clean. Room #34. We had a very comfortable bed. Now the biggest problem was the size of the bathroom. It was sooooo tight having to step up high to get in the shower and having to reach behind the shower glass door to turn the water on was challenging. It's big enough for one person at a time. If you are a big person you may want to find out what other size rooms they have because there's no way you can get in and out of the tub without breaking your neck. Theres nothing to hold on to other than a towel rack and that may not be supported enough. You only get towels no wash cloths. The carpet is very much 70's but it was clean also. The room had two balcony type windows and you could step out on the ledge and have a good view. The elevator is big enough for two people and no luggage. You have to carry your luggage one piece at a time. The staff was really nice. Especially the young lady Veronique at the front desk. You are in the Latin Quarter area. About a 10 minute walk to Notre Dame Cathedral about 5 minute walk to Patheon. If you like to walk you can pretty much walk everywhere. We walked all the way to the Eiffel Tower, and the Lovre. Takes about an hour. This hotel is in a good location with lots and lots of dining and shopping.

We reserved the Abbatial Saint Germain for Nov 12-14, 2010 but when we got to the hotel, they told us there was no space and sent us to their "sister" hotel, the Agora Saint Germain. It was not up to standard as our room was shabby and not fit for occupancy. When I complained to the Agora, I was told it was the same category but that was not true - at least not according to the pictures on the website. I did go back the the Abbatial and told them I was going to complain to [...], so they miracuraously found us another nicer room at the Agora. All in all a bad experience.

[...] at the front desk was oustanding. She was extremely helpful and welcoming. She also spoke English very well. The location was great for strolling the St. Germaine area, visting Notre Dame and dining at good restaurants. The hotel was also very close to a metro station, which made travelling around the city very easy. The rooms were small as expected but at least you could walk around the bed with your suitcases on the floor! The room was a little dark and the decor was old and nothing special. But it was clean and the bed was reasonably comfortable and it was quiet. (We were on an inside room, not the street.) The small bathroom was bigger than some other hotels we have stayed in in Paris. The hair dryer was not to good and we couldn't plug our own in their plug. The elevator was tiny (but at least there was one!)
