Convenient location but could use some work
The hotel is located just outside the main entrance into the city, just beyond the wall. This makes for a convenient location as the bus terminal is right in front and the train is steps away. However, after nightfall the immediate area is less than to be desired. There is only one way into the hotel, up a concrete ramp and it is not well lite and not very welcoming. Overall the room is average and staff were pleasant.

Great location if coming by train
Average hotel, with a great location for people coming by train. Immediately next to the train station and a 10 min walk to the castle!

Location great, very clean, comfortable
The hotel was very clean and location was great! When you cross the street you enter right into the walled city - tons of restaurants/places for drinks or ice cream (location is extremely important to me because it can save you $ on transport, this hotel was perfect for that reason). I drove there so it was essential that I find parking nearby and did (it was the normal rate of 13 euros per 24 hours, which seemed the standard). Bathroom and bed were VERY clean. I would definitely stay here again. LOVED it!

Sightseeing tips:
Short walk from hotel
The castle there, which used to be where the popes resided for some time is beautiful, but the walk there from the hotel is just as lovely. I've traveled extensively throughout Europe and Avignon may have just charmed me enough to be in my top 5 favorites.

Incredible Value
Newly renovated. We stayed in this one as well as the Ibis in Lyon and were delighted at how fresh things were at both. Seems like there was intentional uniformity to their design. Decor was pleasant. Rooms were also fitted with fabulous windows completely blocked out noise while closed. Very clean and AC worked well. I will seek out Ibis hotels for my future travels.
