A wonderful stay at a great location!
Oulu is a great city in northern Finland. The city is made for walking around, with great waterfront scenery and old world charm. The Scandic Hotel is modern, with a phenominal location. Guests have free access to bicycles with beautiful routes on paths that take you to amazing waterfront and city vistas. It also offers a complimentary true Scandinavian breakfast with pickled herring, mustard herring, smoked mackeral, croissants, and all the expected offerings. I will most certainly stay there again, upon my return.

Short walk from hotel
The Hotel recommended the Sokeri-Fussin Kievari for good local dishes. I went there my first night and had a wonderful meal of Braised Salmon, dill potatoes and carrots. It was delicious fresh Norweigian Salmon. Coincidentally, my local hosts made a reservation at the same restaurant the next night. I was thrilled. This time I had a traditional Lappish dish of Sauteed Reindeer, served on a bed of buttery mashed potatoes. It was incredible. I can't wait to have it again. You must try this dish!

Scandic Oulu--Ideal for Business Trips
Attended scientific conference at University of Oulu. The hotel was wonderful. Many great restaurants nearby, and the hotel even has its own movie theater. Everybody needs to try the Reindeer filet--absolutely delicious.

Short walk from hotel
The best restaurant I went to was located near the Radisson Blu. Basically, go near the water and walk across the first bridge outside the Radisson Blu. The restaurant is the first spot on the right. Hands down--the best food in Oulu.

Bad Hotel!
We had to move rooms 3 times due to the AC not working. Never offered discount, nor was maintenance ever sent to our room.
