Hotel Troense has 36 double rooms all of which with bath- toilet and TV. There are 16 double rooms in the white bungalows in the garden. 6 rooms in Strandgade no. 3. 14 double rooms in the main building of which only a few have a view over the sea. There is wireless Internet in the whole of the hotel. The hotel also offers golf stays- mini holidays- weekend stays not to mention party and course premises with room for 15 up to 120 persons. Hotel Troense is situated in the old sailors town Troense on the island Taasinge which is a perfect idyll wherever you look. On the one side the blue and twinkling sound Svendborgsund on the other side cosy streets with small half-timbered houses - and in the middle of everything with a very beautiful view over the sound you find Hotel Troense. From here the sailing ships from Troense set out on long voyages on the seven seas; today it is peaceful and quiet here and a cosy yachting harbour makes sure that the maritime atmosphere is intact. At a stones throw or two from Troense you will find the castle Valdemars Slot. It was built by King Christian the 4th for his favourite son Valdemar Christian during the years 1639-44. It was also here that the tightrope walker Elvira Madigan and the Swedish nobleman lieutenant Sixten Sparre settled down in the summer of 1889 having fled from everything so that their hopeless love could be fulfilled. Many years later many people still visit their graves in the graveyard Landet Kirkegaard where they were buried after they had been found dead in the woods Noerreskoven. With this location and this view it is only natural that the hotel offers turbot- salmon and plaice - not to mention zander which is served with ginger sauteed herbs and fresh vegetables- saffron sauce and white potatoes. The menu card of the hotel also comprises for example red deer meat on stewed red onions with blackcurrant marmalade- cauliflower souffle- fresh vegetables- mild pepper sauce and the potato of the day.
