Self-service cleaning with this kind of pricing! Out-checking at 10 am, quite interesting when you can get breakfast(package!) at 8 am and then you have wash your dishes and empty the machine. And the machine takes more than two hours to wash them...

'Those who have not been to Ribe and stayed at the Hotel Dagmar, nor heard the quarterly chimes from the Cathedral,have not experienced Denmark.' These are the words of the famous Danish journalist and author, Andreas Vinding. And people very much agree with him. Hotel Dagmar was built in 1581 and is the oldest hotel in Denmark. There are 50 charming double rooms. Through the years restoration has been carried out with care and respect for the old hotel and its surroundings. The textiles are all in warm and golden colours, and the walls are decorated with real paintings.The majority has low ceilings, windows with deep sills and sloping floors. The rooms are different in size and they are arranged individually. Also on offer are two restaurants of completely different styles and atmospheres, and outdoor restaurants in the summer. The hotel Dagmar lies in the centre of Ribe - the oldest town in Denmark and is situated next to the 900-year old cathedral. Also close to the many sights and it's flourishing cultural and shopping Milieu. Situated close to a remarkable countryside with the Wadden Sea as the closest neighbour.Ribe stream meander through the city with the cobbled streets and alleys and creates a cozy atmosphere around the little habour.

Charming, historic getaway

Unfortunately, during our stay there was a lot of construction taking place so the entire area in front of the hotel is torn up. However, we were pleasantly surprised with the charm of the hotel and the location could not be better. Loved the crooked floors and walls.
Room was comfortable, but small.

Hotel Dagmar is the best located hotel in Ribe, Denmark. Ribe is a very worthwhile town to visit, our favorite in a trip through Denmark, Sweden and Norway. The hotel is old, making it quaint but not as modern and comfortable as a newer hotel, of which there are none in Ribe as far as I know. As old hotels in Europe go, it was OK. We stayed in a standard room. They have more expensive ones. Like most Scandinavian hotels, Dagmar was not air conditioned, which can make opening the windows necessary in the summer. That raises the issue of street noise and light from the very late setting sun. The hotel clerk who checked us in was concerned about street noise and offered us a choice of another room farther from the street. We stayed in the first room because we like it better, and we did not notice the noise. There is no elevator in the hotel, and the second offered room was on the 3rd floor. The hotel had a computer in the lobby which was available for Internet use by guests at no charge. The hotel has a small parking lot in front, holding only about a half dozen cars. We parked on the street a half block away, which was free because of it being a weekend. We did not eat dinner in the hotel because its main restaurant was very expensive, and its second restaurant didn't offer much. There are many other restaurants in town, although most are on side streets and not obvious at first. Breakfast in the hotel was good. If I were to stay in Ribe again, I would stay in the Hotel Dagmar again because of its location.
