Sheraton Rio Hotel and Resort

We were so pleased with our stay. The staff in every department was so helpful from the front desk to housekeeping. The Concierge desk was invaluable and we made use of the hotel shuttle and car services on multiple occassions. It's definitely important to have patience when at the resort's non-buffet restaurant but all food and beverages were of good quality, at all resort restaurants. We read the previous reviews that had negative feedback but we experienced no problems with staff, crashing ocean waves, or the prescence of the small favela across the street. The Sheraton Rio made our first visit to Brazil easier to navigate and we always looked forward to returning after a big day of exploring the surrounding city.

Hienot aallot, lapset sukeltelivat koko loman ajan. samoin uima-altaat oikein hienot, lapsille (alle 12v) myös hoitopalvelut. Negatiivista on ravintolapalveluiden hinta ja palvelu ravintolassa. aamiainen 2 aik + 2 lasta maksaa 70 usd. Palvelu ravintoloissa oli ajoittain aika hidasta.

The Sheraton was an overall excellent experience for our brief honeymoon in Rio. Staff was great--they all read whatever notes they had in their system to know we were the honeymooners and sent us complimentary wine, cheese and fruits on several nights. They also gave us a room with an excellent view! The hotel has a pictureesque location, but we found the distance from Ipanema and Copacobana to be a con. It was a bit difficult to hail a cab in the evening and traffic made getting around somewhat of a challenge. Getting to and from the airport was the toughest. The hotel isn't in the middle of nowhere, but its certainly not situated centrally. However, if you're interested in a resort style experience in Rio, the Sheraton is the place to be!

awesome place, I loved the view from the room, a bit distant from the hotspots but definitely worth it with private beach and jacuzzi, pools!

My wife and I visited over Carnival time. The hotel was in a a great spot and it was quieter than the Copacaba and Ipenema hotels but only a short and inexpensive cab ride from the sights and sound of those great beaches. The hotel has its own beach as well as several swimming pools. They were great about getting us in to our room early as we arrived around 10:00. The hotel is a bit dated but still clean and adequate. The concierge was very helpful in suggesting dinner reservations and activities. We were impressed that they were environmentally sensitive with motion sensitive corridor lights and escalators that only operated when you approached them. We paid a very high price per night but it was comparable to other hotels as it was Carnival time.

wow- talk about needing a makeover- they charge a high price and act like its a five star hotel, but the place is falling apart. The bathroom is so outdated and the paint is peeling in the room! The thermostat didnt work and the safe fell out of the wall while we were there.

The hotel is a great option in Rio, unique beautiful views, great swimming pool and few steps to the beach, very good options of restaurants available and excellent service!

very busy at the time of visit.....good selection in restuarants...very helpful in arranging transportation....only real problem was stained carpet in bedroom.

I stayed at the Sheraton Rio with my wife to celebrate our third anniversary. We booked a "deluxe" room that faces only the sea, avoiding the views to the favelas available at side-facing rooms. The room was as good as expected in a five star hotels. The view was fantastic. The room amenities were poor. The hotel has nice restaurants, good swimming pools and a almost private beach. We enjoyed and relaxed a lot. One bad thing is that the hotel takes advantage of its isolated location to overcharge for any simple consumption. You will pay the price of a expensive sandwich to by a single soft drink. It is really abusive. The service is not bad, but is not good either; you feel they are not even trying. Overall it was good, but you should carefully consider the issues regarding consumption prices and its remote location.

The hotel itself is lovely. The service is the worst I have ever encountered in a major American hotel chain. This is not because it is Rio; we stayed at the InterContinental and Ceasar Park and the service was impeccable. It took an hour and a half to check in: the computers were down and they could not find our [...]booking. My children were three floors away from us, there was a cockroach in my bathroom, we had requested a room with 2 beds and a king and we received 2 rooms with two beds each. Check out took a half an hour and I was double charged because they couldn't tell that we had paid [...]beforehand.
